HITC Sport understands Bury are closing in on signing free agent winger O’Shea.
Jay O’Shea of Sheffield United celebrates scoring a goal
Bury are poised to sign former Sheffield United loan star Jay O’Shea on a free transfer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
O’Shea ended last season on loan at Sheffield United from Chesterfield and helped win promotion from League One to the Championship.
The Irishman scored three goals in 10 appearances for the Blades and was expected to make the move to Bramall Lane permanent.

However, the 28-year-old rejected United’s offer of a two-year deal as he wanted to consider other options.
O’Shea is out of contract at Chesterfield and he has attracted the interest of a number of clubs since turning down Sheffield United’s offer.
Bury are in pole position to land the former Birmingham City and MK Dons attacker after holding talks with the player.
Lee Clark’s side have been busy in the transfer market this summer as he looks to build a side capable of mounting a promotion push next term and bringing in O’Shea, who has scored or made 58 goals in 163 games at League One level, would be something of a coup for the Gigg Lane outfit.
