HITC Sport understands Steve Bruce has agreed a deal to become Sheffield Wednesday’s new manager.
Sheffield Wednesday are set to name Steve Bruce as the club’s new manager inside the next 24 hours, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Bruce has been Wednesday’s top target to succeed Jos Luhukay following the Dutchman’s sacking last month after just under a year in charge at Hillsborough.
Lee Bullen has been in caretaker charge for Wednesday since Luhukay’s departure and he has guided the Owls to two wins and two draws in his fourgames in charge over the festive period.
Talks between Bruce and Wednesday officials have been ongoing since Luhukay’s sacking and an agreement has now been reached with the former Sheffield United boss.
Bruce has been out of work since leaving Aston Villa in October after just over two years in charge at Villa Park.
Former Manchester United defender Bruce boasts a wealth of managerial experience having won promotion from the Championship four times in his career.
Sheffield Wednesday will be Bruce’s tenth managerial job after starting his coaching career as player-manager at Sheffield United in 1998.
The 57-year-old is set to take charge for the first time for this weekend’s FA Cup clash with Luton Town.
