HITC Sport understands Brighton have made an improved bid for Sheffield United defender Jack O’Connell.

Brighton have increased their bid for Sheffield United defender Jack O’Connell to £8million, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
The Seagulls have made O’Connell one of their top targets before the transfer window closes and have already seen their opening offer of £6million rejected by Sheffield United.
The Blades are reluctant to lose O’Connell and flatly turned down Brighton’s offer for the highly-rated 24-year-old.
Brighton boss Chris Hughton is determined to try to bring the left-sided central defender to the Amex Stadium and has gone back with an £8million offer in a bid to persuade Sheffield United to do business.
O’Connell joined the Blades from Brentford in the summer of 2016 and helped them win promotion to the Championship in his first season at the club.

The Liverpool-born defender was an ever-present in the Championship last season as the Blades just missed out on the play-offs.
O’Connell’s impressive displays in the Championship last season have enhanced his reputation as one of the best young defenders in the country..
Hughton wants to go into the new Premier League campaign with four senior central defenders and he hopes Brighton’s latest offer will land O’Connell.
