Christian Walton during England training
Wigan Athletic are poised to sign Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in taking Walton on loan next season after he impressed during two loan stints at Luton Town and Southend United during the last campaign.
Portsmouth were close to landing Walton, but now League One rivals Wigan have agreed a deal with Brighton to take the keeper to the DW Stadium next season.
Wigan are in the market for goalkeeping reinforcements after seeing Matt Gilks leave for Scunthorpe earlier this summer.
Brighton are happy to loan out Walton again so that he can get valuable first-team experience under his belt.
Walton is well down the pecking order at the Amex Stadium and Seagulls boss Chris Hughton feels he will benefit by going out on loan again.

Walton is highly-regarded at Brighton, having made his senior debut for the Seagulls in a League Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur in 2014 before going on to make three appearances in the Championship, keeping two clean sheets in his four outings.
The 21-year-old made 33 appearances on loan at Luton last season before being recalled by Brighton in January.
He then joined Southend on an emergency loan and played seven games until the end of the campaign and it looks like he will go out on loan again to League One with Wigan next season.
