HITC Sport understands Brighton to raid Premier League rivals for striker.

Brighton & Hove Albion are closing in on Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa, HITC Sport understands.

Leicester are willing to let Ulloa go out on loan as he is well down the pecking order in Claude Puel’s plans at the King Power Stadium.

Puel is well stocked for strikers with Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki, Kelechi Iheanacho and Islam Slimani all ahead of Ulloa in the pecking order for a place in the side.

Argentine forward Ulloa is keen to move on this month in search of regular first-team football, having only had 18 minutes of action in the Premier League this season and only two starts, both in the EFL Cup.

A number of clubs have expressed an interest in signing the 31-year-old, including Aston Villa, but Brighton have moved to offer Ulloa the chance to remain in the Premier League.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton is looking to add more firepower to his side as he attempts to steer them to safety in the Premier League, and he sees Ulloa as a valuable addition to his plans.

Ulloa first arrived in England when he joined Brighton in January 2013 from Almeria, and he scored 23 goals in 50 appearances for the club before joining Leicester in the summer of 2014.

Brighton signed PSV Eindhoven’s Jurgen Locadia in a club record £14.5million deal last week, but Hughton still wants another striker to help solve their goal-scoring problems, with the Seagulls the second lowest scorers in the Premier League.
