Brentford midfielder Alan Judge is to hand the club a massive boost by returning to action.

Brentford star Alan Judge is primed to make his long awaited return to first-team action against Sheffield Wednesday next week, HITC Sport understands.

Judge has been out of action since suffering a double leg break against Ipswich in April 2016.

The skilful midfielder has battled his way back to fitness after two surgeries and is ready to return to the fold for Dean Smith’s men.

Judge has not rushed his return to fitness as he wanted to ensure he was 100 per cent ready to play his part for the side in the second half of this season.

Judge has been involved in full-contact training since October and he marked his return to action with a goal ten minutes into his comeback game for Brentford B against Barnet earlier this month.

The 29-year-old has got further minutes under his belt playing for Brentford’s B side and although the Boxing Day clash with Aston Villa is likely to come too soon for him Judge could be available for a truimphant return against Sheffield Wednesday at Griffin Park on December 30.

The return of Judge would come as a welcome boost to Brentford as the classy playmaker had established himself as one of the best players in the Championship prior to his injury.

A fit and firing Judge would give Brentford’s hopes of reaching the play-offs a major lift in the New Year and his return would also be a boost for the Republic of Ireland as he was on the verge of making the squad for Euro 2016 before his injury.
