HITC Sport understands Bradford are set to sign the Northern Ireland international.
Adam Thompson during his time at Southend United
Adam Thompson only joined Bury from Southend on a three-year deal earlier this summer, but the Shakers are happy to let him go out on loan.
The Northern Ireland international has made just three first-team appearances for Bury since making the move to Gigg Lane.
Thompson’s last appearance for Bury came in the League Cup defeat to Wigan Athletic and he has not been in the squad for the last two games.
Bury boss Lee Clark has brought in a whole host of new faces this summer and he feels he has enough cover in defence to let Thompson move on.

A number of clubs have expressed an interest in signing Thompson, but Bradford have moved quickly to agree a season-long loan deal for the 24-year-old.
Thompson is set to go straight into Stuart McCall’s squad for this weekend’s clash with Bristol Rovers.
Thompson came through the ranks at Watford but struggled to make the breakthrough at Vicarage Road, having loan spells at Brentford, Wycombe Wanderers and Barnet before joining Southend in January 2014 after an initial successful loan spell.
