Bradford City are lining up a move for Northampton Town midfielder Matt Crooks, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
New Bradford boss Michael Collins has made Crooks his No.1 target following his appointment as Simon Grayson’s successor at Valley Parade earlier this week.
Collins is a big admirer of former Huddersfield Town youngster Crooks and sees him as a key addition to his plans for next season.
Crooks made 34 appearances in all competitions for Northampton last season, chipping in with four goals following his arrival from Rangers last summer.
Northampton are facing a battle to keep hold of the defensive midfielder this summer following their relegation from League One and a number of clubs have been monitoring Crook’s situation at Sixfields.
However, Bradford are keen to steal a march on their rivals by stepping up their interest in Crooks as they look to offer him the chance to stay in League One.
Collins is looking to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion next season and he believes Crooks would prove to be a major success if he can land him.
