HITC Sport understands Bournemouth midfielder agrees loan stay at Port Vale.

Bournemouth midfielder Ben Whitfield has agreed to extend his loan stay at Port Vale until the end of the season, HITC Sport understands.
Whitfield’s existing loan deal at Vale Park was due to expire this week and a number of other clubs, including League Two rivals Lincoln City were monitoring his situation.
However, Port Vale have moved to agree a new loan deal wit Bournemouth and Whitfield to keep him at the club for the remainder of the season.
Whitfield has impressed for Port Vale this season playing in a central midfield role or out wide in an attacking role.
The 21-year-old has made 23 appearances in all competitions for Port Vale so far this season, chipping in with three goals and two assists.

Port Vale boss Neil Aspin was determined to keep hold of Whitfield for the second half of the season as the midfielder has established himself as a key man in his starting XI.
Bournemouth are happy to let Whitfield stay out on loan as he is well down the pecking order in Eddie Howe’s first-team plans at Dean Court and they feel he will benefit from getting regular first-team experience.
Whitfield’s contract at Bournemouth expires this summer and his loan move to Port Vale allows him to put himself in the shop window or prove to Howe he deserves a crack with the Cherries next season.
