HITC Sport understands Blackburn set to sign Huddersfield midfielder.

Blackburn Rovers are closing in on the signing of Huddersfield Town’s Jack Payne following his return from his loan spell at Oxford United, HITC Sport understands.
Payne was recalled from his loan stay at Oxford on Monday after his season-long loan deal was cut short early.
The 23-year-old impressed during his time on loan at Oxford making 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals and creating nine assists for the League One side.
The news of his departure is a major blow for Oxford boss Pep Clotet as Payne had established himself as a key member of his side at the Kassam Stadium.

Despite his good form at Oxford Payne remains well down the pecking order in David Wagner’s first-team plans for Huddersfield and he is set to go out on loan before the close of the transfer window.
Oxford’s League One rivals Blackburn Rovers have moved quickly to agree a deal to bring the attacking midfielder to Ewood Park for the second half of the season.
Blackburn are just two points outside the automatic promotion places in League One and Rovers boss Tony Mowbray sees Payne as someone who could prove the difference in their bid to return to the Championship next season.
Blackburn have signed Adam Armstrong on loan from Newcastle this month and made Paul Downing’s loan move permanent and Payne is set to become their third signing this month.
