Blackburn Rovers have made a second bid for Fleetwood Town left-back Amari’i Bell, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Blackburn saw their first bid in the region of £200,000 flatly turned down by League One rivals Fleetwood, but they have come back with an improved offer for the former Birmingham man.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has made a new left-back one of his top priorities during the transfer window and Bell has emerged as his his top target.

Bell’s future has been the subject of speculation since the transfer window opened with the defender out of contract in the summer and already having turned down a new deal at Highbury.

A number of Championship and League One clubs are monitoring his position at Fleetwood as they look to bolster their defensive options during this month’s transfer window.

Bell played the full 90 minutes of Fleetwood’s FA Cup draw with Leicester City on Saturday and a number of scouts from clubs higher up the football pyramid were in attendance to watch the attacking full-back.

The 23-year-old has made over 100 appearances for Fleetwood since joining them on a free transfer from Birmingham City in the summer of 2015

Fleetwood are reluctant to lose Bell, but they are ready to cash-in on him for the right offer rather than risk allowing the defender to run down his contract and leave for nothing in the summer.
