Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale is poised to join Birmingham City on a free transfer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Stockdale’s contract at Brighton expires this month and he has been unable to agree a new deal with the Premier League new boys.
The news of Stockdale’s contract situation alerted a number of clubs to his possible availability on a free transfer this summer.
Several Premier League clubs showed an interest in signing Stockdale, but Birmingham have stolen a march on their rivals for the former Fulham man.

Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp has moved quickly to agree a deal with the highly-rated keeper as he looks to build a side capable of challenging for promotion to the Premier League next season.
Stockdale was hugely influential in Brighton’s successful promotion to the Premier League keeping 20 clean sheets as the Brighton finished runners-up to Newcastle in the Championship and he was named in the PFA Championship team of the season.
The 31-year-old is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the country after impressing at Brighton for the last three years and he has been included in England squads in the past without winning a cap.
