Birmingham City are poised to sign Barnsley captain Marc Roberts after agreeing a fee for the defender, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Roberts has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Championship since joining from Halifax Town in 2015.
The 26-year-old was instrumental in helping Barnsley finish in 14th spot in the Championship last season after helping them win promotion from League One the season before.
A number of clubs, including Burnley and Hull City have been credited with an interest in Roberts, but Birmingham have moved quickly to secure a deal for the powerful centre-back.

Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp has made a new central defender one of his top priorities and he has turned to Roberts after failing to land former Chelsea defender John Terry.
Barnsley have accepted Birmingham’s £3.5million offer for Roberts and granted the player permission to hold talks and undergo a medical at St Andrews.
Redknapp is expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer as he looks to rebuild the squad at St Andrews after they narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship last season.
