Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen is set to break an appearance record for Belgium.

Belgium have already qualified for the 2018 World Cup, but this week’s round of international fixtures is particularly significant for Jan Vertonghen.
The Tottenham Hotspur defender is set to be honoured as he prepares to become Belgium’s record appearance holder.

Belgium play Cyprus on Saturday and Bosnia and Herzegovina next Tuesday.
Vertonghen is being brought together with Ceulemans by Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad for a special feature on his achievement, ‘Jan meets Jan’.
Vertonghen made his international debut for Belgium in 2007, a decade ago in a loss to Portugal.
He had already become a regular at Ajax at this point and has retained his place in the side ever since, featuring at the 2014 World Cup.
Vertonghen has made 213 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur, joining the club in 2012.
