Tottenham Hotspur signed Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2023.

Brennan Johnson did well for Nottingham Forest in the Championship and then in the Premier League, and Tottenham Hotspur decided to snap up the 22-year-old Wales international forward last summer.

Johnson scored 18 goals and gave 10 assists in 49 Championship matches for Forest in the 2021-22 season and helped the Reds win promotion to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old Wales international forward scored eight goals and gave three assists in 33 Premier League starts for Forest last season.

So far this campaign, Johnson has scored four goals and given six assists in 15 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs.

And, former Arsenal midfielder and pundit Adrian Clarke has been impressed, noting a big strength of the young attacker.

Praise for Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson

Clarke wrote about Johnson on PremierLeague.com: “One of Johnson’s greatest strengths is his ability to pop up at the far post to convert crosses which are flashed across the face of goal.

“Three of his four top-flight goals for Spurs has come in a similar manner, using his speed to make up ground, or to get across his markers, for a ball that’s squared to him inside the six-yard box.”

“His dramatic winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time against Brighton & Hove Albion was a prime example of this trait, sprinting from inside his own half to meet the centre at the back post.”

My View: Brennan Johnson will get better

There have been suggestions that Brennan Johnson should not start regularly for Tottenham Hotspur. Some have noted that the 22-year-old forward does not use his pace properly.

While that may be true, the fact of the matter is that Johnson is a very good and promising young forward.

The youngster is a versatile player who scores goals and creates chances. I think that Johnson is an asset for Tottenham.

I think that the Welshman will get better and improve in the coming years. After all, he is 22. Johnson has a lot of potential, and if he continues to work hard and add facets to his team, then he will be a star for Spurs for many years to come.
