Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been dissecting Arsenal’s performance against Nottingham Forest this weekend and he’s been critical of Eddie Nketiah.

The Gunners struggled against Forest at the weekend. They were beaten 1-0 and they failed to really create anything in the final third.

Nketiah spearheaded the attack, but he failed to impress against Forest. He had four shots, but not a single one of those ended up on target, while he also failed to complete a single key pass.

Wright, of course, knows a thing or two about being a striker for Arsenal, and he wasn’t impressed by what he saw from Nketiah.

What’s Wright said about Nketiah?

Wright gave a scathing review of the 22-year-old’s performance.

“Arsenal couldn’t get themselves going, they seemed to be a bit caught in the headlights for some reason. I though Eddie Nketiah was poor with his movement and his finishing. It’s games like that where it’s not going well but you get a half-chance and finish it and then you realise why he’s so sought after,” Wright said.

Not taking his chances

Sadly, this is yet another instance of Nketiah not taking his chances in the Arsenal first-team.

The 22-year-old has been unable to establish himself as a key player at Arsenal, despite showing so much promise during his time in the U23s, and performances like this show why.

Nketiah is a talented player, but he’s not showing it often enough, and we can only hope that once his Arsenal contract expires in the summer he can kick on at whichever club he opts to join next.
