Curtis Woodhouse has criticised Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane on Twitter for his performance for England against Iran at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Tottenham star Kane started for England in their opening Group B game against Iran on Monday.

Gareth Southgate’s side won 6-2.

Kane did not score, but the £200,000-a-week (SalarySport) star gave two assists.

But former Sheffield United and Birmingham City midfielder Woodhouse was not impressed.

The former Premier League player has said that Kane should have been playing as a number 9.

Criticism for Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane

Harsh

In our view, any criticism of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane for his performance for England against Iran is harsh.

Really harsh.

Yes, Kane dropped deep and played as a number 10 for England against Iran, but he gave two assists and was sensational in that role.

Maybe England head coach Gareth Southgate asked him to play like that.

And England won with ease.

Yes, Kane is the main striker for England, but we have seen for the past few years how Kane likes to drop and involve himself in build-up play.

Kane has evolved as a player, and he is a better footballer because of it.
