The Leeds United defender has become an immediate cult icon at Elland Road.
There is no doubt that Swedish defender Pontus Jansson has immediately become a fan favourite at Elland Road.
Leeds United signed the player on loan from Torino in the summer, a deal that might become permanent in the next week when he meets his criteria of 22 games for the club.
He has been an instant hit and an immediate cult icon has been born – he even has his own theme tune.
Leeds’ Pontus Jansson celebrates scoring their first goal
The Pontus Jansson has a magic hat song is a fairly bonkers terrace tune which contains the odd expletive. But a clean version of the song was performed by local musician David Dean on Radio Yorkshire this week, as Jansson fever continues to grip Leeds.
It also got the seal of approval from the man himself.
Jansson sent this tweet after seeing the clip, clearly happy with the end product:
Leeds are hopeful they can conclude a permanent move for Jansson soon. The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that personal terms are already agreed between the player and the club, so it seems this deal is on the brink of completion, if he plays his 22nd game for Leeds against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
