He has had an excellent season at Leeds United, but it appears that Pontus Jansson is not yet downing tools and enjoying his holidays.

Leeds are no longer training regularly after their Championship season came to an end, finishing seventh and just outside the play-off places.

Jansson has therefore travelled back to Sweden for the summer but is still training regularly. The popular centre-back is keeping himself in shape by training with his former club Malmo, whose Swedish campaign has only just got under way.

The 26-year-old is training with his old team as he attempts to remain fit for Sweden’s upcoming fixtures against France and Norway – where he will hope to add to his 12 international caps.

Speaking to the Swedish club’s official website Jansson had this to say:

“It is most gyms and maybe some ball exercises. This is a way for me to feel on the ball and keep running for the national team collection in June, first and foremost.”

The 26-year-old has been a revelation for Leeds this season since joining on loan from Torino. A permanent deal is in place for the summer, although that is now currently under investigation from FIFA after his parent club Torino raised issues with the deal.

Leeds fans will be hoping that their star defender is back heading bricks next season.
