Jansson scored as Leeds United went on to secure a 1-1 draw at Villa Park.
Pontus Jansson has suggested that ahead of Leeds United’s game with Aston Villa last week, he had a feeling that he would get onto the scoresheet, just as he did before the clash with Norwich City back in November, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.
The Whites knew that despite the two sides’ positions in the Championship going into last Thursday’s contest, they faced a daunting task trying to come away from the Villans with all three points as Steve Bruce’s men boasted an unbeaten record at Villa Park.
Leeds’ Pontus Jansson
But while most of the squad may have been thinking about that before the game, the on-loan defender has suggested that a familiar feeling was going through his mind in the build-up.
“I had a feeling on the morning of the game that I might score,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“It was the same against Norwich [Jansson scored in that game and Leeds went on to claim a dramatic win]. It was special. I was close to another one but that’s football. I took two touches, the second a shot, and I thought it was in.
As Jansson alluded to, his premonition came to fruition as he opened the scoring shortly after the start of the second-half, and he almost doubled Leeds’ lead as a smart piece of work from the centre-back saw him hit a sweet volley that kissed the bar on its way over.

Unfortunately for the Whites, they were unable to bag the same result they had done when Jansson scored against Norwich as a late Villa penalty saw the home side preserve their unbeaten record on their own ground as the points were shared.
But Garry Monk will be hoping that Jansson gets a similar feeling today in the build-up to Leeds’ clash with Rotherham United as a victory is surely a must given where the Millers lie in the table.
