New Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson made his debut on Tuesday night in a 1-0 win over Luton Town.

After Luton beat Aston Villa 3-1 at Kenilworth Road two weeks ago it was always going to be a tricky place to visit, but Jansson looked comfortable in his first game in English football.

The Swede has signed on loan from Serie A side Torino, and this was his first competitive game of the season and an ideal chance to get up to speed.

Commenting on Twitter after the game, Jansson admitted he was worn out after the performance but was thrilled to make his debut.

Jansson’s admission over his fitness suggests it is unlikely he will be a starter this weekend against Nottingham Forest.

An international break will come after that, which should give him plenty of time to train intensely in order to get up to speed.

Jansson can be a real asset for Leeds this season, but Liam Cooper and Kyle Bartley are in form at present and he will have to work his way into the side.
