Pontus Jansson has missed Leeds United’s pre-season campaign following his involvement in the World Cup.

Pontus Jansson has taken to Twitter to suggest that he is more motivated than ever ahead of his return to the Leeds United side ahead of the new Championship season.
Jansson has not been involved in any of the Whites’ games during pre-season after being a part of the Sweden side that reached the quarter-final of the World Cup earlier this summer.
He has not returned in time to feature in any of Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s friendlies, but he took to social media on Sunday to express his excitement for the coming campaign – which, for Leeds, kicks off against Stoke City next weekend – insisting that the Whites are targeting promotion out of the Championship.
While Leeds finished their summer friendlies with a clean sheet and narrow win over Las Palmas, it does appear that the 27-year-old has been missed by the Elland Road faithful.

Bielsa has so far not been able to add a new centre-back to his ranks, and in Jansson’s absence, Gaetano Berardi has often played at the heart of the defence alongside Liam Cooper – and there does appear to be some concerns about the pairing. It must be mentioned however, that Kalvin Phillips impressed a lot of supporters with his display against Las Palmas.
If Jansson can get back to the level that he was at during the year that he spent on loan at Leeds, then it could well prove to be an exciting season for the club as some of the pieces appear to be starting to fall into place. Jansson’s return could perhaps represent one of the final pieces if he can hit the ground running upon his return.
