Brentford central defender Pontus Jansson has sent a message to Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips on Instagram.

Phillips has taken to Instagram to revel in Leeds’s 3-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers away from home at Ewood Park in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The 24-year-old actually scored for the Whites in the 40th minute when he curled in a brilliant free kick from 25 yards.

Jansson, who left Leeds to join Championship rivals Brentford in the summer of 2019, has responded to Phillips’s post on Instagram, and seems surprised that the 24-year-old scored.

Jansson responded: “Bro since when did you start scoring goal? 👏 @kalvinphillips

Stats

Phillips is one of the best central midfielders in the Championship and is a key figure in the current Leeds team.

The Englishman is not a prolific goalscorer, but he has put the ball in the back of the net before Saturday.

According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old has scored two goals and provided two assists in the Championship so far this season, while in 2018-19, he scored one goal and provided three assists in the league.

Back in 2017-18, the midfielder scored seven goals and provided three assists in the league, while in 2016-17, he scored one goal and provided two assists in the Championship, according to WhoScored.
