Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson was shown far too yellow cards last season.
Jansson earned as many as 15 yellow cards last season and will miss the opening two games of the 2017-18 campaign.
The 26-year-old central defender has admitted that he needs to work on his disciplinary issues.
“It’s not good,” Jansson told The Yorkshire Evening Post regarding getting far too many yellow cards. “It’s something I have to work on this year, to not take that many yellow cards.
“If it’s an important yellow card, when you have to stop a player and take one, then fine but not for arguing with the referee and other things like that.”
Jansson is a very combative defender, and one can understand why he gets so many yellow cards.
However, many of his cautions last season included bookings for dissent and diving. The Sweden international centre-back needs to cut such issues out of his game.
Leeds narrowly failed to finish in the top six of the Championship last season and will be aiming to clinch a playoff spot during the 2017-18 campaign.
The West Yorkshire outfit have been quite busy in the summer transfer window so far.
The Whites have secured the services of Felix Wiedwald and Vurnon Anita among others so far this summer.
