Leeds United are close to selling Pontus Jansson.

After Leeds United’s play-off defeat, talk turned to the future of one Leeds defender. The consensus among fans was that it might be time to say goodbye.
But it is not Gaetano Berardi heading for the Elland Road exit, it is Pontus Jansson.
The Mirror report Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa decided he wants to axe Jansson, and he has been sold to Brentford.
Given the way Leeds have let go of a core of young defensive talent go, they can’t really afford to sell Berardi too.
Berardi has been a cult figure among Leeds fans, but presents himself in a different way to Jansson.
Instead of being like the vocal warrior Swede, Swiss defender Berardi is like the ice man, who occasionally loses his temper.

This is Berardi’s biggest fault and one which has begun to grow tired on Leeds fans.
His sending off late in the play-off final may not have changed the result, but it didn’t help.
Berardi has a far worse disciplinary record than Jansson, who keeps his composure on the pitch.
Bielsa’s decision to axe Jansson takes the heat off Berardi and gives him a reprieve.
Leeds will need him now, but really they might be getting rid the wrong defender.
