Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson speaks highly of his teammate Liam Cooper.
Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has told BBC Radio Leeds that he plays well with Liam Cooper.
Jansson and Cooper have established themselves as the first-choice centre-back pairing for Leeds this season.
Cooper, who can operate as a central defender or as a left-back, was able to make just 11 appearances in the Championship last season, only eight of which were starts.
It was largely due to the fact that Jansson and Kyle Bartley were the two main centre-backs for the Whites during the 2016-17 campaign.
With Bartley having returned to his parent club Swansea City following a season-long loan spell at Elland Road, Cooper, 26, is now playing alongside the Sweden international centre-back.
Jansson, 26, has stated that he thinks that Cooper and he are playing well, and has praised the former Hull City and Chesterfield defender.
“I think to be honest every time I play with Coops, even last year we played good together,” Jansson told BBC Radio Leeds about playing with Cooper.
“I don’t know how Coops was before, since day one, since I came to the club, everyday he has been good.
“Last year he was behind me and Barts, but he was always positive, worked hard, when he got his chance, he performed good, so for me I think every time I play with Coops, we play good together.”
Leeds have made a strong start to the 2017-18 Championship campaign and, are second in the standings with 14 points from six matches at the moment.
