Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has explained to The Yorkshire Evening Post how his side need to play against Blackburn Rovers this week.

The Whites have made a disappointing start to the 2016-17 Championship campaign and find themselves third from bottom in the league table at the moment.

Garry Monk’s side went down 1-0 to Huddersfield Town at Elland Road in the league on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds will be aiming to return to winning ways on Tuesday evening when they take on Blackburn at home in the Championship.

Jansson, who is 25 years of age and joined the West Yorkshire outfit on a season-long loan deal from Torino in the summer transfer window, has suggested how Monk’s team should play against Rovers at Elland Road.

“We have a lot of good players and I think we can play more football than we do, especially at home,” Jansson told The Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I understand that we have to put in longer balls in the beginning but then we have to start playing more. That’s not only to blame the coach. That’s all the players too.”

Blackburn are at the foot of the Championship table at the moment and look set for relegation to League One at the end of the season.

Leeds should fancy their chances against Rovers, and it will be a surprise if they fail to pick up all three points from the encounter at Elland Road on Tuesday evening.
