The Leeds United team are as confident as it’s been for quite some time.
Pontus Jansson has claimed to LUTV that Leeds United are capable of beating any side in the Championship.
The two-week break comes at an inconvenient time for Leeds, who are one of the division’s most in-form sides at the moment.
The Whites go into the break on the back of a 2-1 win over free-scoring Barnsley at Elland Road.
It was United’s fourth victory in five Championship games, leaving them 11th in the table and four points adrift of the top six.
Indeed, Leeds, under Garry Monk, seem to be improving all the time and there is genuine optimism of promotion, although probably in whispers at the moment.
Asked by LUTV if there’s more to come, Jansson, a loan signing from Torino in the summer, said: “Yeah I think we can beat every team in this league. If we have the right mentality then we can beat everybody.
“In the next month we want to win every game and that’s the goal.”
Such a claim might have prompted questions over Jansson’s sanity this time last month, when Leeds had won one of their first six games.
But now it’s testament to the confidence and belief flooding through Monk’s side and nobody embodies that better than the Swedish defender, who has become a hugely popular figure among Leeds fans.
Jansson joined United under the written agreement that 20 appearances would see the Yorkshire club sign him outright. With six of those ticked off, the other 14 can’t come soon enough for the club or player.
