The Leeds defender was thrown on late against France.
There is little doubt who Leeds United fans will tell you has been the star of their season so far. Pontus Jansson, signed on loan from Torino, was fairly unknown to many Leeds fans prior to his signature but he has fast become a big fan favourite.
His performances for Leeds have been immense in the Championship and it was this form that has seen him earn back a place in the Swedish national set-up.

Sweden took on France yesterday in a World Cup qualifier. They were very unfortunate to lose the game 2-1, despite taking the lead through Emil Forsberg’s goal.
Antoine Griezmann and Dimitri Payet scored for France to save the day in Paris.

Sweden, hoping to scrape a result, did in fact throw Jansson into the game late on – as an auxiliary striker. But the Leeds hero could not help earn a result for Sweden. He was clearly disappointed with the result, as he highlighted on his Twitter account:
As for Leeds fans, they were pleased that Jansson got to play some football for his country. However, many were wishing he was English, so he could shore up the backline for England.
