Pontus Jansson comments on his form; Thomas Christiansen sets target

Leeds United are not playing well in the Championship at the moment.

Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has admitted to Sky Sports that his form in recent games has not been great.

Jansson is one of the best centre-backs in the Championship, but the Sweden international is not playing well at the moment.

The 26-year-old also seems to have lost his place in the Leeds starting lineup for now, with the Whites losing seven of their last nine Championship games.

The Swede has admitted that he has not played as well as he wanted to and has taken responsibility for the team’s bad results.

“I take a big responsibility for this bad run,” Jansson told Sky Sports. “When we played well, I got a lot of credit, so now when it’s bad I want to take responsibility for that.

“I haven’t played as good as I have wanted to. But I have trained hard and I will do everything to take my team back to where we belong.”

Meanwhile, Leeds head coach Thomas Christiansen has stated that the aim of the team this season is still to finish in the top six of the Championship.

The West Yorkshire outfit are 11th in the league table at the moment with 23 points from 16 matches, three points behind sixth-placed Middlesbrough.

Interestingly, the Whites will face Garry Monk’s Boro at Elland Road in the league this afternoon.

“I said a bad run would come,” Christiansen told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “We are making a project of several years where almost everyone is new in this, starting from the chairman and the sporting director.

“Our target is still to be in the top six. I would have preferred to have had a game after the defeat but on the other hand you have time to think about things.”
