Pontus Jansson left Leeds United for their Championship rivals during the summer.

Pontus Jansson has told Expressen that he is tired of talking about his departure from Leeds, but claimed that he rejected other Championship sides and a team in the Premier League to join Brentford.
Jansson’s departure was one of the most intriguing in the Championship during the most recent window. He had been one of the league’s best defenders as Leeds came agonisingly close to sealing promotion to the top flight last season.
So it came as a massive surprise to Leeds and Brentford fans alike when it was announced that Jansson was being sold to the Bees, with an even bigger shock coming about when it was reported that the centre-back was moving to Griffin Park for just £5.5 million (via Yorkshire Evening Post).
Given the intrigue, it is little surprise that there has been a lot of talk about the move, particularly as one of Jansson’s first appearances for his new club came at Elland Road last month.
The 28-year-old, who has now linked up with the Swedish national team ahead of the international break, has insisted that there is no bitterness towards his old club, but added that he feels he is done with talking about the Whites as he hinted at some of the other opportunities that he turned down to join Brentford.

“I’m just tired of all the questions about Leeds if I’m to be honest. Out of respect, I do not intend to go into what happened, others may speculate,” he told Expressen.
“I closed the door to other countries. Brentford was the best option. There were some teams in the Championship and something in the Premier League but nothing felt as hot as Brentford,” he went on to add.
Brentford fans appear to be delighted with the deal that brought Jansson to Griffin Park. He is now Thomas Frank’s captain, and the Bees have only conceded four goals in their opening six games.

In fact, the only team who boast a better defensive record in the division is Leeds. Ben White has proved to be a superb replacement for the Swede.
Nevertheless, while the majority of the Elland Road faithful remain accepting of Marcelo Bielsa’s decision to let Jansson leave, plenty remain unsure as to why the club were willing to let Brentford land the defender for what appeared to be a bargain fee.
