The Swedish international has become a firm fan favourite at Elland Road.
Pontus Jansson of Leeds United celebrates after the game
Leeds United have adopted a new hero this season, in the form of Swedish defender Pontus Jansson.
The summer signing from Torino has been integral to Leeds’ success this term, recently being included in the Championship team of the season, and he can certainly feel as though the Leeds fans have made him feel welcome.
But, as Jansson admitted in the Swedish press this week, there is no place like home.
He admitted, in conversation with Fotbolskanalen, that he does eventually want to return to his boyhood club Malmo before his career is up:
“That’s what I want anyway, and I think everyone wants this, everyone I grew up with, my friends and family.
“They would want to see me in back at Malmo. If MFF want me.”

Jansson joined Malmo as a 15-year-old and spent eight years at the club before switching to Italian football in 2014.
However, Leeds fans should not be too worried. Jansson, who signed a permanent deal with the West Yorkshire side in the winter, is only 26-years-old and it would surely be some way down the track before he considered making a move back to his homeland to wind down his career.
Leeds fans will hope he keeps heading bricks at Elland Road until that time comes.
