Leeds United’s Chris Wood, Newcastle United’s Dwight Gayle and Glenn Murray of Brighton are among those vying to be the top goalscorer.
Leeds United’s Chris Wood
With the Championship season now reaching the business end, gaps are beginning to appear across the table, just as they are currently in the battle for the division’s top goalscorer.
With just a few months left in the campaign, it appears that there are four contenders left in the running for the golden boot. But who do you think will finish as the top goalscorer after 46 games? Before you get the chance to vote, here is a look at the contenders…
Glenn Murray (Brighton)
With 17 goals in the league this season, Glenn Murray sits fourth in the current list. With Brighton starting to allow the chasing pack back in the race for automatic-promotion, the Seagulls will need Murray to keep firing if they hope to reach the Premier League without going through the play-offs.

Tammy Abraham (Bristol City)
Not all of the goalscorers currently vying for top spot are hoping to lead their team to promotion, though Bristol City are certainly fighting for something. Lee Johnson’s men are currently in the bottom three, and will need Tammy Abraham to find the back of the net as often as possible in the remaining months of his loan spell to inspire them to safety. He currently has 18 goals to his name.
Dwight Gayle (Newcastle United)
The top two are slightly ahead of Murray and Abraham, with Dwight Gayle currently on 21 goals for the campaign. The Newcastle man scored his first since January at the weekend, having missed much of that time due to injury, so it would hardly be a surprise if he threatens to approach the 30 mark.

Chris Wood (Leeds United)
The man currently leading the way is Leeds star Chris Wood, who currently edges Gayle by one goal. The New Zealander has scored nearly half of the Whites’ goals this term, and has enjoyed a fantastic 2017, having scored 11 times since the turn of the year. The battle between Wood and Gayle could certainly be an exciting one over the coming months.
