Which Sheffield Wednesday players would fans not mind seeing the back of this month?
As the January transfer window passes the halfway mark, HITC Sport has put together a poll looking at the Sheffield Wednesday players that perhaps some would not mind seeing move on this month. But before we give the fans the chance to vote, here is a look at the five contenders…
Lewis McGugan
Sheffield Wednesday’s Lewis McGugan celebrates scoring their first goal
The Sheffield Star reports that Lewis McGugan is one player on the transfer list at Hillsborough, so it would certainly not be a surprise if the once highly-rated midfielder looked to get his career back on track elsewhere.
Claude Dielna
The second player on the list is defender Claude Dielna (via Star), so it should surprise few that he is included in the poll. The 29-year-old has still not played for the Owls since Carlos Carvalhal arrived in the summer of 2015.
Filipe Melo
Like Dielna, Filipe Melo has not played a competitive game for Wednesday since Carlos Carvalhal’s arrival, and the Star suggested that he was free to leave on loan. According to O Jogo, three Portuguese sides are ready to make a move.
Atdhe Nuhiu
Sheffield Wednesday’s Atdhe Nuhiu
The striker’s physical presence may make him a useful option to have in the squad, but it seems that Carvalhal is less willing to call upon the Austrian. Of the 14 league appearances he has made, he has started just twice and is without a goal this term.
Lucas Joao
Like Nuhiu, Lucas Joao is amongst the host of strikers jostling for a chance for the Owls this term. And also like Nuhiu, he is without a Championship goal this term, so a change of scene may be something that the talented forward is considering.
