Sheffield Wednesday have landed three players during this window, but who else do the fans want to come in?
With the January transfer window entering its final stages, HITC Sport has taken a look at the players that Sheffield Wednesday supporters may be hoping the Owls hierarchy are able to land during the last days of the month. But before you get the chance to vote, here is a look at the contenders…
Jordan Rhodes
According to The Sun, Sheffield Wednesday are ready to make an £8 million plus add-ons bid for Jordan Rhodes, who is also attracting Aston Villa’s attention. Though he has struggled at Middlesbrough, he is known for being a prolific scorer in the second tier.
Ross McCormack
Aston Villa’s Ross McCormack
Another forward who is prolific in the Championship but is yet to show what he can do at the highest level is Aston Villa’s Ross McCormack. The Scotsman has struggled at Villa Park and appears destined for the exit. HITC Sport recently suggested that the Owls were among a queue of clubs interested.
Matty Taylor
The third striker reportedly catching Sheffield Wednesday’s eye is Bristol Rovers’ Matty Taylor, according to the Daily Mail. Taylor was the Football League’s leading goalscorer last season and has bagged another 19 strikes in all competitions this season.
Andre Sousa
Belenenses midfielder Andre Sousa in Europa League action
Belenenses midfielder Andre Sousa is being lined up for a move to Hillsborough (via page 55 of The Sun’s print edition; 20th January 2017). He has made 16 appearances in the Portuguese top flight this season.
Emilio Izaguirre
Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre is attracting the attention of both Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United, according to The Sun. The full-back is an understudy at Parkhead, but would surely be an excellent addition to any Championship side.
