Which Newcastle United player would fans be open to departing during this January transfer window?

As the January transfer window passes the halfway mark, HITC Sport has put together a poll looking at the Newcastle United players that perhaps some would not mind seeing move on this month. But before we give the fans the chance to vote, here is a look at the five contenders…

Cheick Tiote

Joining Newcastle United from FC Twente in 2010, Cheick Tiote was once a very popular figure amongst Newcastle fans. The tough tackling central midfielder was a common sight in the Newcastle starting XI, commanding the midfield and even chipping in with the odd goal. However, since then Tiote has lost his way, and now looks to be a certainty for the exit door. But with Newcastle’s return to the top flight looking likely, should Rafa Benitez keep hold of the Ivorian?

Jack Colback

Despite featuring plenty for Newcastle United of late, Jack Colback’s place in Benitez’s side has been under examination for a while. The former Sunderland midfielder had been replaced by a combination of Shelvey, Anita and Hayden, but due to the prior’s lengthy ban, Colback has found his way back in the side. However, with first team chances normally limited, could the former Black Cats player seek a move away?

Aleksander Mitrovic

After links to both Crystal Palace and Swansea City in the Daily Mail, Newcastle talisman Aleksander Mitrovic could be one of the more likely Newcastle players to depart this month. Losing his place to Dwight Gayle, the Serbian is likely to be looking for more regular football, though a recent injury is likely to scupper any moves in the very near future.

Sammy Ameobi

Younger brother of Newcastle legend, Shola Ameobi, Sammy has impressed plenty this season during his loan spell at Bolton Wanderers. In League One, Ameobi appears to have found his perfect level, and so Newcastle United may end up being forced to make the difficult decision of whether to sell the youngster now, or keep hold of him for the future.

Matz Sels

Signing from Gent last summer, Matz Sels was expected to be the perfect replacement for outgoing keeper, Tim Krul. However, after making just nine appearances for the Toon Army, Selz now finds himself as the third-choice keeper at St James Park, behind youngster Karl Darlow and Rob Elliott.
