Which Middlesbrough player would fans be open to departing this month?

As the January transfer window passes the halfway mark, HITC Sport has put together a poll looking at the Middlesbrough players that perhaps some would not mind seeing move on this month. But before we give the fans the chance to vote, here is a look at the five contenders…

Dimitrios ‘Dimi’ Konstantopoulos

Despite being a regular for the Boro last season, ‘Dimi’ has found his chances of first team football severely cut this time round, after the arrival of keepers Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan. Both holding years of top flight experience, Dimi has now been relegated to third choice, and Karanka might well be looking to ship him out this month.

Adam Clayton

Another major part of Boro’s promotion side, Clayton faces tough competition keeping his place in this Boro side, as he looks to compete with the impressive Marten De Roon, Adam Forshaw and Grant Leadbitter. A decent Championship player, could Clayton be sent back down a division for more regular football?

Jordan Rhodes

Perhaps the most likely Boro player to leave in this window, Jordan Rhodes looks all but set to depart the Riverside this month. However, after selling David Nugent to Derby County, should Boro consider keeping hold of the Scotland international?

Daniel Ayala

Another big part of Boro’s promotion side, Daniel Ayala has found his chances at Boro limited this season, after the arrival of Arsenal youngster Callum Chambers. Struggling for game time, and often a worry on the pitch with disciplinary issues, could Karanka be ready to ship out the Spaniard?

Stewart Downing

A fan favourite, could Stewart Downing be heading for the exit door? The winger turned attacking midfielder has found his influence dwindling a little in the last few weeks, and at his age Downing is likely to be hoping for more regular first team football. Showing he still has a lot to offer at this level, could Downing be set for a switch to another Premier League side? Or a drop down a division?
