Which Manchester United player would fans be open to departing by the end of the January transfer window?

As the January transfer window passes the halfway mark, HITC Sport has put together a poll looking at the Manchester United players that perhaps some would not mind seeing move on this month. But before we give the fans the chance to vote, here is a look at the five contenders…

Chris Smalling

Despite being one of the players who arguably improved the most under Louis van Gaal’s tenure at Manchester United, Chris Smalling has found himself somewhat out of place under Jose Mourinho, though this has not been entirely of his own doing. The resurgence of Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones, combined with the excellent performances from new signing Eric Bailly, have made it increasingly difficult for Smalling to get in the starting eleven, and this may force him to look elsewhere for regular football.

Marouane Fellaini

Despite clearly being favoured by Jose Mourinho for his role in breaking up opposition play; opinion is fairly split on Marouane Fellaini when it comes to United fans. The midfielder has been at the forefront of some high profile mistakes during his time in Manchester, and despite Mourinho’s high praise for the Belgium, Fellaini may well be on the list of potential exits.

Memphis Depay

After struggling to make his mark on the United faithful, Memphis Depay is perhaps one of the more likely exiteers in Mourinho’s squad. Failing to live up to the hype of the number 7 shirt, Depay has been strongly linked with a move Lyon according to the Daily Mail, and could soon find his underwhelming time in a United shirt brought to an end.

Bastian Schweinsteiger

After looking like a certainty to depart in the summer, Bastian Schweinsteiger has slowly worked his way back into the fold at Manchester United, and failing to impress Jose Mourinho. However, with potentially just a few years left of his career, might Schweinsteiger look for a move away to guarantee regular football?

Matteo Darmian

Under Louis van Gaal, Matteo Darmian looked to be an excellent young purchase for United. A right-wing back who loves to bomb on down the wing, Darmian was a player that excited United fans in his early days. However, the young Italian has struggled to keep his place due to the excellent performances of Antonio Valencia, and might seek a move to get maximum game time.
