Leeds United currently have seven players out on loan at various clubs.

Like many other clubs, Leeds United have a significant number of players currently away from Elland Road trying to prove themselves on loan. But which of the seven players has the best chance of subsequently succeeding when, or perhaps if, they return to the Whites?

Before you get a chance to vote, here is a look at the contenders…

Giuseppe Bellusci

The defender is currently away at Empoli, and while he has done well with the Serie A side, it is difficult to imagine that too many Leeds fans will want him back in a hurry. His time at Elland Road was plagued by mistakes, and the partnership of Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley is one of the club’s best for many years.

Jordan Botaka

The winger has struggled to make much of an impact away at Charlton Athletic with just three starts and one assist under his belt. He showed glimpses of talent during his one season with Leeds, but it appears that he may have an uphill battle on his hands trying to make an impression for his parent club, especially with the cluster of wingers currently in the squad.

Toumani Diagouraga

Toumani Diagouraga has not played for Leeds since the opening day of the season and is now away on loan at Ipswich Town, having moved in January. It is too early to make too many assessments about his time at Portman Road, but Garry Monk’s reluctance to use him before his departure suggests that he may have already played his last game for the Whites.

Lee Erwin

Lee Erwin is still awaiting his first goal for Leeds after 12 appearances. The striker has four goals for Oldham, and has certainly not set the world alight. It would surely take an excellent run of form to end the campaign to give him the slightest chance of moving amongst the likes of Marcus Antonsson, Souleymane Doukara and Kemar Roofe in the pecking order looking to support Chris Wood.

Jack McKay

The 20-year-old is still yet to make his first-team debut for the Whites, so it was generally accepted that a loan switch to Airdrie was a good decision for the sake of his development. He bagged his first goal for the Scottish League One side at the weekend.

Luke Murphy

Of all of the players to struggle to make an impact under Monk, it is Luke Murphy’s situation that is perhaps the most surprising. While he has not done enough to hold down a place in an area of the pitch where Leeds are so strong, it is still somewhat perplexing that he has played just once this term. A loan move to Burton allows him to play regularly in the Championship, and he made a big impression in the victory over QPR, scoring a brilliant opener.

Alex Purver

Alex Purver has been impressive since joining Guiseley, scoring twice in his 21 league appearances for the non-league side. The major concern will be whether the 21-year-old has missed his chance to force his way into the plans at Elland Road, but he will surely take plenty of confidence from his spell in the National League.
