With Aston Villa languishing in the Championship, some supporters would be forgiven for looking at the 10 players currently away on loan and wondering whether any of them would have been able to improve their fortunes.
But which has the best chance of being successful at Villa Park once their current loan spells come to an end? Before you get the chance to vote, here is a look at the contenders…
Aly Cissokho
Aly Cissokho made a handful of appearances for Villa this season before joining Olympiacos in January.
Henry Cowans
Henry Cowans joined Stevenage in the summer and has featured fairly regularly for the League Two side, but is still awaiting the chance to make his first-team debut for Villa.
Carles Gil
Carles Gil has not played too often for Deportivo La Coruna, but has still contributed four assists in eight La Liga appearances, which is an incredibly impressive return. Surely, if Villa can keep him, he would be an excellent player to have ahead of what appears set to be another season in the second tier.
Pierluigi Gollini

The 21-year-old’s short time at Villa was littered with several costly mistakes. Though Steve Bruce showed little faith in him by allowing him to join Atalanta, he is still young enough to make significant improvements.
Niall Mason
Niall Mason has played fairly regularly for League Two side Doncaster this term, but will know that at 20, he is perhaps running out of time to force his way into the plans at his parent club.

Ross McCormack scored just three times following his summer switch, and his falling out with Bruce seemed to prompt his exit (via Daily Mail). It is difficult to imagine that he still has a future at Villa, but that may change if he shows exactly what he is capable of with Nottingham Forest.
Carlos Sanchez
Carlos Sanchez has done well since joining Fiorentina, scoring once and contributing one assist. His time at Villa was a struggle, but the fact he is playing at such a high level now shows that he has plenty of quality.
Kevin Toner
Kevin Toner recently joined Bradford City but still awaiting the opportunity to make his debut. He played regularly for Walsall earlier in the season.
Aaron Tshibola
Like McCormack, Aaron Tshibola has joined Forest until the end of the campaign. He appears to have a lot of potential, and will be hoping to prove himself at the City Ground.
Jordan Veretout
The player that is perhaps doing the best out on loan is Jordan Veretout. The Frenchman has been a regular for Saint-Etienne so it may be difficult for Villa to convince him to stay in the summer.
