Which Arsenal players would fans not mind seeing the back of this month?
As the January transfer window passes the halfway mark, HITC Sport has put together a poll looking at the Arsenal players that perhaps some would not mind seeing move on this month. But before we give the fans the chance to vote, here is a look at the five contenders…
Mathieu Debuchy
Arsenal’s Mathieu Debuchy
With Hector Bellerin shining once again, Mathieu Debuchy has been restricted to one league appearance this term for the Gunners. And with only 13 Premier League games under his belt since arriving in 2014, he may not be missed too much if he moved on this month.
Per Mertesacker
Another defender who has made little impact this term is Per Mertesacker, who is yet to play. There have been conflicting reports regarding his future with The Times recently suggesting that he was free to leave on loan ahead of the final months of his contract, but Sky Sports has claimed that Arsenal are ready to open talks with the German regarding a potential new deal.
Danny Welbeck
Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck
The striker’s time at the Emirates has been blighted by injury. Every time Danny Welbeck has hinted that he may be ready to become a star – as he did when he scored a dramatic winner against Leicester last season – long spells on the sidelines have only just been around the corner. Is it time that Wenger considered giving up on the former Manchester United man?
Yaya Sanogo
Although Welbeck’s fortunes may frustrate Arsenal fans, there is probably one striker who Gunners supporters would rather see move on this month. Yaya Sanogo’s career at the Emirates has failed to ignite and it would not be a surprise if his departure came before he played another minute for Arsene Wenger’s side; whether that comes during this window remains to be seen.
Kieran Gibbs
Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs
The Telegraph have speculated that Kieran Gibbs is likely to be on his way out of Arsenal this summer, so perhaps it would not be the biggest surprise if a January move was ultimately on the cards. With Nacho Monreal performing so well, Wenger may be tempted to accept a slightly better fee for Gibbs now rather than wait until the end of the season.
