The Swansea City manager is reported to have said no to an approach from Liverpool.
Views in football are, as always, divided.
Did Brendan Rodgers make a wrong decision yesterday, or was it the right one?
On one hand, he may never get this opportunity again. How often do positions at Liverpool, or such clubs, become available?
Rodgers knows how football can change; two years ago he was sacked by Reading and struggling to get an interview.
Surely he should strike while the iron is hot?
Then on the other hand, the job could be a move too soon. He has only one season of Premier League football under his belt, and surely at least a couple more would enhance his experience as a manager.
Why leave a job half-complete? The Liverpool job may be a chance of a lifetime, but with the club preparing to interview as many as 12 managers, he might not get it any way.
And then what, the bridges with Swansea fans are somewhat burnt. Many in the football world believe Rodgers made the right decision.
If he continues to be as good as his record this season suggests, then such jobs will surely come his way in the future, when the time is right.
