Fans have been voting for the team they feel are most likely to be relegated. Is it good news for or Leicester, Sunderland and Crystal Palace?
With the end of the season drawing closer and closer, the race to stay in the Premier League is hotting up, and nerves are building from sets of fans all over the country as to whether their team will escape relegation this season.
After yet another weekend of upsets and shock results, up to six teams look to be battling for survival. But who will stay up? And, more importantly, who is the most likely to go down? Fan have been taking part in a HITC Sport poll to vote for the team they think will go down, so let’s take a look at the results…
3. Leicester City (13%)

Despite doing the impossible by winning the Premier League last season, 13% of fans who took part in our poll think Premier League champions Leicester will be relegated this season. Claudio Ranieri’s team have looked like a shadow of their former selves this year, and really seem to be missing midfielder N’Golo Kante, who departed for Chelsea in the summer. However, a recent 3-1 victory in the FA Cup against Derby County might just have sparked some life into Leicester; is it enough to halt their slide?

2. Crystal Palace (23%)

Despite bringing in the man who many see as the best manager in England at saving teams from the drop, 23% of fans voted for Crystal Palace as the team most likely to be relegated this season. Despite being littered with class players, such as Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha, Palace are currently sat 19th in the league, and are struggling to claw their way out of the drop zone. Will Sam Allardyce be able to master an escape for the London club this year? Or has he finally met his match?

1. Sunderland (38%)

They’ve been flirting with relegation for a couple of years, and now 38% of fans feel time has run out for Sunderland in the Premier League. After Sam Allardyce’s departure in the summer for the England job, the Black Cats turned to former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes. But the Scotsmen has struggled with Sunderland’s mix-match of a squad, and little funds to bring in new players. With Jermain Defoe still firing the goals, and their effort unquestionable, there’s certainly still hope for Sunderland this season. But to get out of, and stay out of the relegation zone now, it’s looking like the Black Cats have a mountain to climb.
