Fans have been voting between Reading, Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham and Huddersfield Town for who they’d like to see promoted.
Sheffield Wednesday fans celebrate
Over the last week, fans have been voting as part of a HITC Sport for the team they would most like to see promoted to the Premier League this season, through the play-offs.
Fans have been selecting one of Reading, Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham and Huddersfield Town, with the sides all having already played the first legs of their play-off semi final ties.
With both teams drawing in their ties, the race for the Premier League is still wide open, and who may or may not be getting promoted has arguably become more difficult to call. So how did fans vote?
Reading – 14%

Jaap Stam’s side came in last place in the HITC Sport poll, picking up just 14% of the vote. The Royals finished third in the table this season, and have impressed many with their defensive hard-work and possession-based football this season.
Huddersfield Town – 16%

The Terriers have been one of the big surprises of the season this year, and ended up finishing fifth in the Championship table. Again, Huddersfield Town have been a team who have benefited from a defensive, counter-attacking style of play, racking up a goal difference of a surprising -2, lower than teams such as Cardiff City and Aston Villa.
Sheffield Wednesday – 34%

Once again, Sheffield Wednesday have come so close to victory only to see it snatched away from them. Wednesday fans had their hearts broken at Wembley last season, after losing narrowly to Hull City. However, Carlos Carvahal has done another excellent job of getting the Owls in contention for promotion again this season, but will need to battle their way past Huddersfield Town if they want to reach Wembley again.
Fulham – 35%

Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham have won the HITC Sport poll, picking up 35% of fans’ vote, narrowly beating Sheffield Wednesday. The Cottagers have been one of the best teams to watch this season, playing some of the most exciting football in the Championship. After finishing sixth, knocking Leeds United out of the play-off sports, Fulham are hoping to turn their great momentum into a genuine push for promotion.
