Newcastle United, Leeds United and Norwich City players feature alongside Tammy Abraham, the Bristol City forward on-loan from Chelsea.
Here at HITC Sport we have been conducting a poll to find out who has been the best young player in the Championship in 2016. It has been a fantastic year for many of the Championship’s teams and there seems to be a real push to promote young talent as each team looks to safeguard their future. With so much budding young talent on show it has not been easy to whittle down the list, however, we have cut the list down to four candidates:
Issac Hayden
Reading’s George Evans in action with Newcastle’s Isaac Hayden
Newcastle’s man in the middle has been a fantastic signing this term as he continues to grow as a player. For one so young, he is a very mature player and he is continuing to showcase exactly why the Magpies were so eager to bring him in. With Jack Colback in the squad, Hayden’s time in the team has been curtailed slightly, but he will be learning from a very experienced midfielder for as long as he is at Newcastle. His passing has improved, while his defensive ability and intelligence make him an integral cog in the Magpies’ midfield.
Tammy Abraham
Bristol City’s Tammy Abraham celebrates
Chelsea’s on loan striker has been in fine form this year as he continues to displays exactly why he remains on the Blues’ books. Abraham has notched 10 goals this term and two assists as he leads Bristol’s play-off push this term. Of the 27 goals his side has, he has scored over a third of them, making him invaluable to the side. His pace, power and good finishing make him a nightmare to deal with on his day and he is growing into a very talented player.
Charlie Taylor
Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor
Taylor has played a very important part in Leeds’ promotion push this season as he continues to improve in the side. His versatility, which lets him play on the left hand side of the defence, and in midfield, allows manager Garry Monk to utilise him where he feels he will be most effective, while his youth and budding ability means he is arguably one of the most sought after talents in the division.
Jacob Murphy
Jacob Murphy celebrates
Norwich’s Murphy has been in fantastic form this term for the Canaries as he continues to impress in the Championship. He has found the back of the net six times, while he has also picked up three assists, which is very impressive for a player of his age. His maturity, coupled with his power and pace, have helped to drive Norwich onward this year and he looks like he could become a huge talent in the years to come.
