Well, Mohamed Salah just might be signing a new contract at Liverpool after all.

The 29-year-old has reached an impasse with Liverpool over extending his contract at Anfield.

Salah is thought to want around £500,000 per week but The Mirror have reported in recent days that the Egypt international is prepared to accept a lower amount to get his deal finalised.

With the star attacker only being contracted to the Merseyside outfit until 2023, his future was a massive concern for the Reds’ supporters.

However, a politician in Salah’s native Egypt has revealed that the player will indeed be committing his long-term future to Liverpool.

Ashraf Sobhi, the country’s sports minister, has claimed that he advised the player to quit the Premier League powerhouse, but that the player is now determined to stay.

Sobhi said via Goal: “I met with Mohamed Salah at the airport after the end of the Senegal [World Cup playoff] match and the failure to reach the World Cup finals and said to him to forget what happened and focus on what’s next. I have advised him to continue his journey at a club other than Liverpool, but his direction now is to renew his contract with Liverpool.”

Good news?

Well that’s an understatement.

This is potentially massive news for Liverpool because simply put, Salah is irreplacable.

Even if the Reds pocket £200 million, which isn’t going to happen, who could Jurgen Klopp and Julian Ward possibly sign to replace him?

There’s a number of names, like Kylian Mbappe for instance, but would he be as effective at Liverpool as Salah down the years? Potentially not.

There’s only one Mohamed Salah and fortunately for the Reds it looks as if he’s sticking around a while longer.
