Norwich City and Derby County are interested in signing Polish youngster Kacper Masnego, according to reports.

Speaking during a live interview for his club’s official website, Wisla Krakow Academy Director Rafal Wisłocki claimed that Championship sides Derby County and Norwich City are interested in signing his side’s young defender Kacper Masnego.

The 14-year-old has garnered attention from around the word with a succession of outstanding displays for Krakow’s youth team.

Aston Villa were reportedly interested in Masnego last month, with Akademia Wisly claiming that the Villans were set to offer the youngster a trial with the club.

Wislocki spoke to Akademia Wisly, and explained how the youth setup at the club are producing players of such high quality that they can now be compared to academies in England and Germany:

“It shows that the boys, who train at the Academy are similar – or even higher – level, in relation to their peers abroad, with English and German clubs. Besides interest from Derby County or Norwich City we have signs of interest from Hertha Berlin and Schalke. Of course, we remember that our main goal is to train players for the first team.”

Poland has become a notorious breeding ground for some of the Bundesliga’s hottest talents over the past decade, although the Premier League are still awaiting the kind of influx of Polish players that has been experienced in Germany.

There are currently 16 Poles plying their trade in the Bundesliga, while there are only four playing in the Premier League.

Masnego is so highly rated within the game that he would represent a huge coup for either Derby or Norwich, should they manage to compete a transfer for the youngster.
