Leeds United fans reacted on Twitter to Alfonso Pedraza’s performance on Wednesday night as Villarreal beat Manchester United in the Europa League final.
During his brief days in Leeds colours, Pedraza was a wannabe winger under then-manager Garry Monk, who had aspirations to become a creative force further forward.
But since his brief loan spell with Leeds, Pedraza has transformed his game and is now a forward-thinking left-back in the colours of the Yellow Submarine.
Under the guidance of Unai Emery, Villarreal beat Man United on penalties last night to secure their first major trophy and Leeds fans were loving what they saw from their former player.
Pedraza played 88 minutes of the game, before being replaced by ex-Liverpool man, Alberto Moreno, with the Spanish side taking Man United to extra time before David de Gea’s penalty was saved after 20 penalties were scored on the bounce.
It now means that Pedraza, who was scoring away at Birmingham City in England’s second-tier in 2017, will now be preparing for nights against Bayern Munich in the Champions League next season.
Not only did the Leeds faithful enjoy the performance of their former player, but they loved the fact that their old rivals were beaten along the way.
Pedraza dancing his way forward was just the cherry on the cake for the Leeds fans, as the 25-year-old is a changed character and player from his days at Elland Road.
Whilst Pedraza had the technical quality when at Leeds, he was like a rabbit caught in the headlights, but that was understandable given that it was his first loan spell outside of Spain and he was only 21, at the time.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Leeds fans reacting to their former player’s display in the Europa League final last night:
