Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s trip to Swansea on Tuesday, and provided an update on the fitness of Victor Wanyama, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.

The 26-year-old has not featured for Tottenham since August 20th after sustaining a knee injury, and the Lilywhites have really missed his physical presence in the middle of the park.

Spurs have enjoyed mixed fortunes during the Kenyan’s absence.

They were imperious in their Champions League group, finishing top of the pile, ahead of European giants Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Their domestic form hasn’t been quite as strong, however, and they currently sit in fifth spot in the table, a distant 21 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City.

Tottenham fans will be hoping that Wanyama is back and available for selection sooner rather than later.

Pochettino spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference today, and provided an update on the 26-year-old’s fitness, as quoted by Football.London:

“Maybe yes. He was involved last game and then was out of the squad. Now we have a lot of players who can be involved. We’ll see about the decision. The good news is that he can again train and is available to be selected.”

Whether Wanyama is fit enough to play against Swansea remains to be seen, but just having him back amongst the first-team setup will be a huge boost for Spurs, as they look to force their way back into the Champions League spots.
