Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that Erik Lamela will not be ready to play against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Spurs will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Crystal Palace at the Wembley Stadium in London in the Premier League.

Lamela has not played for Spurs for over a year, having had operations on both his hips.

The Argentina international attacking midfielder has been training with his Tottenham teammates in recent weeks.

Spurs manager Pochettino, though, has ruled out the 25-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, from the match against Palace.

When asked if Lamela is ready for Sunday, Pochettino told Football.London: “No. Not yet.”

Lamela is a very talented footballer, but Tottenham do not seem to be missing the Argentina international.

Of course, the presence of the former AS Roma star would enhance the quality of the current Spurs team, but it appears that manager Pochettino has found a way to be successful without the 25-year-old.

Tottenham should be able to pick up maximum points against Palace at Wembley with relative ease.
